Happening in Nature - March

• Rufous Hummingbirds are still arriving from their winter territories. We highly recommend keeping
those hummingbird feeders full of fresh nectar!

• Other birds arriving this month are Violet-green Swallows, Orange-crowned Warblers, Virginia Rails,
Ospreys and Turkey Vultures.

• Want to attract a variety of birds to your yard? Come on in to our store and we will give you great
tips on the best food, water and shelter to attract all the birds around your home!

• Now is the last chance to see Trumpeter Swans before they depart this month!

• Nesting season is starting! In March, current nesters are House Sparrows, Bald Eagles, Great Blue
Herons and Crows.

• Mason Bees emerge this month and begin their life cycle. Did you know Mason Bees pollinate 10
times better than regular bees and don't sting? Well, now you know!

• The warmer the weather becomes, the more things bloom! Look for the beautiful blooms of
Dogwoods, flowering Cherry, Plum Trees, Skunk Cabbage and Trilliums. What a wonderful start
of Spring!

• Want to see whales at the beach? March is a great time to see Gray Whales return to Puget Sound
waters.
